Jesse Love lost his appeal.

In a NASCAR Xfinity Series ruling Wednesday, Love’s appeal over his disqualification last Saturday at Rockingham Speedway was denied.

NBC Sports released the officials’ reasoning for their decision:

“The finds that it is more likely than not that there was a violation (and) was unable to determine whether the violation was intentional or unintentional.”

After executing a dominant overtime restart, Love ed Sammy Smith and cruised to what he anticipated was his second win this season. During the post-race inspection, the No. 2 Chevrolet was dinged for the truck’s trailing arm not being in with the U-bolt saddle in the rear suspension.

Smith, who initially finished P2, earned the win and qualified for the playoffs.

Richard Childress Racing immediately appealed the ruling. It did not agree with the final decision.

“RCR is disappointed in NASCAR’s decision today to uphold the disqualification of the No. 2 team. We will focus our efforts on moving forward and being competitive at Talladega this weekend.”

Coming off last weekend’s heartbreak, Love enters the Ag-Pro 300 at Talladega Superspeedway ranked fourth in the driver standings, 124 points behind pace-setter Justin Allgaier. On the sports-betting front, Austin Hill (+310) drew the favorite status to win Saturday, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Love (+700) ranked second and Allgaier, Sheldon Creed, Aric Almirola and Connor Zilisch each were tabbed with +1200 odds.
