Midway through the NASCAR Cup Series season, Chase Briscoe appears to be getting comfortable with his new team.

While some expected instant results from Briscoe taking over for the retired Martin Truex Jr., it has taken some time for things to click for the new-look No. 19 Toyota team.

After capturing the pole position for Sunday’s Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway, the second straight event he will start on the inside of the front row, Briscoe appears to be finding a comfort level at Joe Gibbs Racing.

Briscoe turned a hot qualifying lap of 164.395 mph, edging teammate Denny Hamlin by 0.049 seconds.

Briscoe joked with Prime on his final thrust to the finish line, clinching his fourth career pole.

“I guess I just pushed my head farther forward,” said Briscoe, who ranks 11th in the drivers’ standings, 185 behind leader William Byron. “It was clean, smooth lap and sometimes that’s what it takes.”

Briscoe has yet to qualify for the postseason, posting five top-five finishes in 13 starts. After posting just one top five during the season’s opening seven events, Briscoe has placed P4 at Kansas, P9 during the All-Star Race and P3 from the pole at Charlotte.

“Track position is going to be really, really big (Sunday),” Briscoe said. “Hopefully, we can maintain our track position and keep it up front.”

Byron will start third (163.119 mph), alongside JGR teammate Tyler Reddick (163.368).

ing 2024: Joey Logano’s 5 OT Masterpiece

And this year’s finish … will likely be nothing like the 2024 conclusion at Nashville.

After five overtimes, Joey Logano completed the extra 31 and emerged as the race winner. Logano’s team uniquely managed the No. 22 Ford’s fuel as the machine raced the final 110 laps on one tank of gas.

In conservation mode, Logano edged Zane Smith to the finish line, beating the Spire Motorsports’ driver by 0.068 seconds.

Logano qualified for the playoffs with the win, fueling his run for a third series championship.
