Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons took to social media after owner Jerry Jones mentioned that he doesn’t know the name of his rusher’s agent.

Micah Parsons Defends Agent After Jerry Jones’ Comments

During contract negotiations, Jones wants to deal with the player directly instead of with an agent.

While speaking with the media during the NFL’s Annual League Meeting, Jones discussed why Parsons’ agent is not a “factor” in this negotiation.

“Are you kidding me? That’s just not something that you should worry about,” Jones said via Jon Machota. “You should be worrying about your ability to make it work, and you should be worried about what the player does. Does he have good enough health? Does he have enough skill to do what you’re paying him the money for? The agent is not a factor here. And I don’t know his name. And so my point is that I’m not trying to demean him in any way, but this isn’t about an agent.”

Parsons took offense to the comments and defended his agent, David Mulugheta, in a post on X.

“Facts!! David is the best and I will not be doing any deal without David Mulugheta involved!” Parsons wrote. “Like anyone with good sense I hired experts for a reason. There is no one I trust more when it comes to negotiating contracts than David! There will be no backdoors in this contract negotiation.”

Jerry Jones Talks Micah Parsons Contract Extension

When dealing with Parsons and his contract extension, Jones does not view the issue as an “urgent” situation.

“We are there. I don’t view it as urgent at all,” he said. “Some say using the basis that the earlier you get something done, the cheaper. Well, the earlier you get something done, a lot of the time, the more mistakes you make. You might want to see a few more cards played, not just with that particular negotiation but with the whole team. I know I’m kind of being a little defensive here, but the idea that the only success is getting a contract done at an early time is incorrect.

Jones mentioned that he spoke with Parsons for “five or six hours” and the two sides have agreed to most of the details of the contract.

“Most of the issues we are in agreement on. We discussed it all,” Jones said. “But we obviously don’t have an agreement relative to the new contract.”

Clarence Hill Jr. reported that Parsons has been offered a record-breaking contract extension. However, Parsons’ agents were not involved, which is likely why the star player has not signed the deal.

If Hill’s report is true, Parsons’ deal will sur Myles Garrett’s record-breaking contract extension of $40 million annually and $123.5 million in guarantees.
