Miami Dolphins Coach On Tyreek Hill: “He’s A Great Leader”

When the 2024 season ended for the Miami Dolphins, a departure for Tyreek Hill seemed like a foregone conclusion. The player himself even said as much after the team’s finale in January, and acted on his frustration by even removing himself from Miami’s Week 18 contest against the New York Jets.
Tyreek Hill, Dolphins Once Appeared Destined For A Split
But Hill remains on the roster as we enter the summer. There have been no reports of any substantive trade talks, and the wide receiver’s frustration has seemed to temper. And according to his position coach, Tyreek Hill has been a “great leader” in recent weeks and during the current offseason.
🗣️ Miami Dolphins WR coach Robert Prince revealed Tyreek Hill took the receiver room out to dinner and has been a positive figure
“Tyreek’s been great… I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with Tyreek, and he’s a great leader in the room.” (@stclaudeii) #PhinsUp pic.twitter.com/zWFSlDWM70

Hill had a couple of the best years of his career during his opening seasons with the Dolphins. He finished with 1,700+ yards in 2022 and 2023, and led the NFL in both yards and touchdowns in the latter. But his production dropped this past season as defenses around the league seemingly figured out Miami’s offensive schemes, and Hill was held to under 1,000 receiving yards and missed the Pro Bowl for the first time in his nine-year career.
All of that led to end-of-season antics, which culminated in a Hill quote that seemed to project his future in Miami:
“There are a lot of things I need to reassess about my career…I’m out, bro”
Time has apparently healed whatever wounds Tyreek Hill was nursing. All of his comments since his now-infamous quote have been positive, and he has essentially assured that the Dolphins are the team that he wants to play for.
Relationship Between Hill & Dolphins Has Apparently Improved
🎥 WR coach Robert Prince on Tyreek Hill: “It’s been great. He is a hard worker, and one of the hardest competitors… the guy wants to be coach, and he wants to be great.” (@MiamiDolphins) #PhinsUp pic.twitter.com/KXH5vuAH61

Miami Herald reporter C. Isaiah Smalls spoke with new wide receiver coach Robert Prince, who had nothing but good things to say about Hill. He called the 31-year-old a great leader, and says that there have been nothing but positive experiences between them. Prince even said that Hill recently treated the receiver room to a dinner.
Like Hill, the Dolphins were a general disappointment in 2024. Like the year prior, their season was marred by injuries, including one to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, which derailed much of the early schedule. Miami finished the year with an 8-9 record, and missed the postseason for the first time in three years.
