The NFL is heading Down Under in 2026. The league announced the Los Angeles Rams will play a regular season game in Melbourne, Australia.

Rams And The NFL Head To Australia In 2026

The NFL announced on Thursday its multiyear commitment to play regular season games in Melbourne, Australia.

The first game will be played in 2026 at Melbourne Cricket Ground, with the Rams serving as the host team.

Details regarding the Rams’ opponent, date, and kickoff time will be announced at a later time.

“Expanding to Melbourne, Australia, a beautiful city with a rich sports history, underlines our ambitions to become a global sport and accelerate international growth,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a press release. “Together with the Victorian State Government, Visit Victoria and the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and with the Los Angeles Rams in 2026, we look forward to making history in what is an important market for the NFL and a significant next step in expanding our international footprint.”

“We’re thrilled the NFL will be touching down in the sporting capital of Australia. Victoria is now the first-ever state in Australia to host a regular season NFL game,” said Premier of Victoria Jacinta Allan. “It’s a win for jobs, a win for businesses and a win for fans who will get to see American football played at the iconic MCG.”

NFL Continues To Push More International Games

Starting in 2025, the NFL can schedule up to eight International regular season games per season.

The Indianapolis Colts will play in the league’s first regular-season game in Berlin.

Additionally, the NFL will make its return to London next season. The New York Jets and Cleveland Browns will host games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the Jaguars will play at Wembley Stadium.

This past season, the Eagles and Packers participated in the NFL’s first game in São Paulo, Brazil.
