Liverpool are most likely to look to the Feyenoord midfield if any key names follow boss Arne Slot into the Premier League.
Slot has verbally agreed to move from Rotterdam to become the new head coach at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s successor and the club face a big summer of squad re-organisation to make sure they are ready for the 2024/25 campaign.
Mohamed Salah is currently making headlines following a touchline row with Klopp and his future at the club is not guaranteed, while there is work to be done on Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold deals if they are to stay.
But Liverpool need to work on new gs too and sources have revealed there are a couple of faces at Feyenoord that have been on the radar for a while.
Feyenoord Midfielders In Liverpool’s Sights
At the moment the names of defender Lutsharel Geertruida and forward Santiago Gimenez are being linked with the Reds but it is in midfield that we might see the best likelihood of a g from Feyenoord.
Quinten Timber and Mats Wieffer are two players that insiders are indicating have been tracked by the club’s scouting department – and that those reports were being made in advance of any move to land Slot as manager.
Both players have been first-team regulars for Slot in the Netherlands and are of a profile that could fit well as the squad is adjusted for next term.
Timber, 22, is the twin brother of Jurrien Timber, who ed Arsenal from Ajax last summer, and he has also been tracked by the likes of Man United, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the past.
Timber has been monitored across the past two seasons but could be considered a bit too similar to other players already in the squad right now.
Wieffer, 24, has also been detailed in of being well suited to the club’s needs and may prove to be a better fit for what Liverpool need in their midfield department, as he is deeper-lying and could give them an edge that has been missing.
