Fresh off the thumping 4-1 win over Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has sent a stern warning to Real Madrid. The Spain international said the Blaugrana were already “very confident” of their chances in Saturday’s (October 26) El Clasico and beating Bayern only bolstered their belief.

Barcelona Ends Bayern Curse After 9 Years

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona claimed a commanding 4-1 victory over Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Gameweek 3 of the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, October 23. The Blaugrana struck in the opening minute, with Raphinha applying a cool finish to make it 1-0 for Barcelona. Bayern Munich restored parity through Harry Kane in the 18th minute but failed to build on it, eventually surrendering the control to the Spanish side.

Robert Lewandowski struck in the 36th minute while Raphinha doubled his money just before the half-time whistle. The Brazilian winger completed his hat-trick in the 56th minute, receiving the ball from Yamal, beating the Bayern defense in a foot race, and applying a clinical finish. The game ended 4-1 in Catalonia, marking Barcelona’s first win over Bayern in nine years.

Lamine Yamal and Co. Full of Confidence Ahead of Real Madrid Clash

Barcelona will face the reigning Spanish and European champions Real Madrid in their next La Liga match this weekend. Here is what Yamal, who is very much looking forward to the contest, had to say about it:

El Clasico? Before this match we were already feeling very confident, we believe we are the best team in the world, and I think we are proving it. We will go with all our strength, and may the best team win.”

He also discussed the importance of the victory over Bayern.

It was very important to beat Bayern 4-1 in a very important week,” added Yamal.

We’re doing very well this season, but there’s always the worry of what will happen in the Champions League. We’re a great team and we’ve shown that.”

Barcelona is indeed playing rather superbly this season. The Catalans have won nine of their 10 La Liga matches so far, losing once. They are sitting at the top of the league rankings, three points clear of second-placed Real Madrid.
