With the NASCAR Cup Series taking Easter weekend off, most associated with the industry likely took advantage of the annual break to relax on a beach. Kyle Larson’s beach proved to be dirt tracks in Iowa and Tennessee.

Larson competed in the World of Outlaws event at Knoxville Raceway last Friday and Saturday. Larson claimed a P2 during the Knoxville Nationals sprint car race, failing to winner Rico Abreu on a final-corner attempt. Abreu claimed the lead from Aaron Reutzel on Lap 9.

Larson, who won the Cup Series race at Bristol on April 13, itted to creating too many errors during the 25-lap feature.

“I wish I wouldn’t have had to try a Hail Mary,” Larson said via press release. “I wish I wouldn’t have made so many mistakes.”

Larson, who had won the event in back-to-back seasons, ed his eighth consecutive podium finish during a World of Outlaws race. The 2021 Cup titleholder also visited Iowa Speedway to take a few laps. After capturing the pole for last season’s inaugural event, Larson plans to compete in the Iowa Corn 350 on Aug. 3.

“I just love racing,” Larson said, as reported by Des Moines (Iowa) . “That’s why I’m spending my off weekend racing some more. I feel like it’s really important to get some laps in.”

As the Cup Series returns to action this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, Kyle Larson (+300) continues to pace the field as the sports-betting favorite, according to BetOnline Sportsbook. Christopher Bell (+450) drew the second-best odds and William Byron and Denny Hamlin were tied for third at +600.
