Justin Fields Makes NFL History For the Second Straight Week as the Bears Lose, Which Is Exactly What Chicago Needs to Be Doing Anyway

A week ago, Justin Fields set a new Chicago Bears fell to the Miami Dolphins, 35-32.
On Sunday against the Detroit Lions, the former Ohio State superstar made NFL history yet again. And yet again, it wasn’t enough, as the Bears lost a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter to suffer a 31-30 defeat.
Fields completed 12 of 20 es for 167 yards with two touchdowns and added another 147 yards and a pair of scores on the ground, becoming the first-ever NFL quarterback with 100 rushing yards, two ing touchdowns, and two rushing touchdowns in a regular-season game.
On the drive following his one interception of the day, which was undoubtedly a crucial moment of the game as it was a pick-six to fellow Buckeye Jeff Okudah that allowed Detroit to tie the score at 24-24, Fields reeled off an incredible 67-yard touchdown run, making him the only quarterback in the Super Bowl era with multiple rushing TDs of 60 yards or more in the same season. He had a 61-yarder last week in the loss to Miami.
The touchdown run gave the Bears a 30-24 lead, but Cairo Santos botched the extra point. The Lions took a 31-30 lead with just over two minutes to play on a one-yard touchdown run from Jamaal Williams, and a made extra point from Michael Badgley.
The Bears got a final shot at a game-winning drive but were unable to make anything happen. It seemed as if Fields might pull off a fourth-down miracle near the end as he somehow escaped several Detroit defenders before more swarmed him for the sack to secure the win.
As I’ve continued to say in my weekly quarterback rankings, Chicago may have lost yet another game, but Justin Fields is picking up a lot of personal victories as he continues to improve and impress.
And honestly, losses are better for the Bears. They’re not going to compete for anything this year anyway, so getting better draft picks to acquire more help for their young quarterback is the best course of action. They’ll also have a ton of money to spend in free agency.
So while this is a lost season in of wins and losses, Chicago is watching its future get better and better each and every week.
