Madden is a biopic, but not about the titular coach’s entire life. Instead, the movie will explore Madden when he’s already established himself as a successful NFL coach.
Two years after winning the Super Bowl, Madden retired from coaching in 1979. Madison transitioned into broadcasting and became arguably the most famous commentator in NFL history.
For a certain generation, Madden might best be known for his work in video games. Despite never playing video games, Madden partnered with EA Sports to release the Madden NFL video game series.
To date, Madden NFL is the most successful football video game franchise of all time. Madden would provide the voiceovers for the game to help players better understand football.
Academy Award nominee David O. Russell directs from a script he wrote based on an earlier version by Cambron Clark.
Producers include Russell, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, Jonathan Shukat, Matthew Budman, and Colin Wilson.
The film is produced in association with Skydance Sports.
Madden does not have a release date.
