The New York Jets are moving on from quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, the team presented a potential plan to Rodgers if he agreed to return.

Jets Present Aaron Rodgers With A Plan For 2025 Season

Rodgers flew to New Jersey last week to meet with new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey.

The Jets were open to keeping Rodgers for the 2025 season. However, the organization wanted it on their , which included rules that Rodgers had to abide by for the season.

Per The Athletic’s Diana Russini, two major adjustments were presented to Rodgers:

  • Rodgers could not do his weekly interviews on The Pat McAfee Show.
  • Rodgers must attend all mandatory practices.

The new regime clearly wants to hold players more able for their actions than previous regimes.

It’s unclear whether Rodgers agreed to these principles or not.

Rodgers has made weekly paid appearances with McAfee during the season for a few years.

Last spring, Rodgers missed the final two mandatory minicamp practices because he scheduled a vacation in Egypt.

The Aaron Rodgers Era In New York Is Over

During Fox’s pregame for Super Bowl LIX, Jay Glazer reported that the Jets will likely move on from Rodgers this offseason.

Rodgers is under contract for 2025. If the Jets trade or release the four-time MVP before June 1, it will result in a $49 million dead cap hit.

The likelier option is to trade or cut Rodgers and designate him as a post-June 1 move, which saves the Jets $9.5 million in cap space.

The Rodgers era in New York is over after two seasons, though Rodgers only played in 2024 due to an Achilles tear in 2023.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the favorite to land Rodgers, per BetOnline.
