Jelena Ostapenko Stays Perfect, Defeats Iga Swiatek At Stuttgart

Iga Swiatek is not able to overcome her tennis nemesis, Jelena Ostapenko. Ostapenko defeated Swiatek in three sets on Saturday. This marked her sixth career win over the Polish tennis star and current World No. 2.
This is the second time this year that Ostapenko beat Swiatek, the first was a straight-set affair in Doha. Ostapenko attacks the Swiatek serve, and at this point, that has to cross Swiatek’s mind after six straight losses.
OSTAPENKO 6-0 SWIATEK
Jelena Ostapenko stays undefeated against Iga Swiatek, wins their first meeting on clay, beating the two-time champ 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 to reach the semifinals in Stuttgart.
One of the most amazing head-to-heads in tennis history tbh.

A small victory for Swiatek was taking a set from the Latvian star. It is only the third set she has won against her in her career. Swiatek is a two-time champion at Stuttgart. Her quarterfinal loss assures a maiden Stuttgart champion will be crowned and a new Porsche owner will prevail in Monday’s final. (The tournament has Sunday semifinals and a Monday final because no play was permitted by ordinance on Good Friday.)
Aryna Sabalenka faces Elise Mertens in the other quarterfinal matches on Saturday.
Jelena Ostapenko Is Obviously A Bad Matchup For Swiatek
Some matchups are just bad, and Swiatek has to dread Ostapenko in her draw because it is not good for her. Iga Swiatek is too good a player not to eventually solve the Ostapenko puzzle. It is a matter of how long it takes and how many more losses she will endure until she gets that gratifying first win.
Tennis fans hope that it does not reach the level of Novak Djokovic’s head-to-head dominance over Gael Monfils. The Serbian is 20-0 in his career over Monfils. That is a perfect example of a great player, Monfils, whose game does not align well with Djokovic’s.
