It has been reported that an illness may have swept through the Eagles training camp ahead of the Super Bowl this weekend, but Jalen Carter has now returned to practice after being stuck down by bug.

Jalen Carter illness update

The Super Bowl has seen Philadelphia hit by a sick bug, after Jalen Carter missed out on practice with illness and multiple other players complained about feeling unwell.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Eagles offensive lineman and six-time Pro Bowler Lane Johnson itted some of his teammates have been under the weather with problems starting before the team had even arrived in New Orleans.

“It was going around before we even left Philadelphia,” Johnson said.

Johnson continued to say that ‘four or five’ Eagles were suffering from the illness, with Jalen Carter later put on the injury report after being limited practice. The 23-year-old was also absent from Thursday’s media day.

Carter would be a huge miss for an Eagles defense that has been purring in the postseason, with the second year defensive tackle playing the best football of his career so far in the latter stages of the 2024 season.

Despite concerns about Carter so close to the big day, NFL insider Adam Schefter provided an important update on Friday morning that will give Philadelphia fans a sense of relief

“He was sick, but he was back to being a full participant in practice yesterday. And he is going to be out there,” Schefter said. “And I was told to use that word he’s “fine.” Not an issue.

“And again, the fact that he was upgraded from limited practice earlier in the week to full practice now, tells you that he will be out there.”

So far in the playoffs, Carter has had nine tackles, two sacks and one crucial forced fumble against the Rams in the NFC Championship game.

Chiefs ‘ready to go’

While the Eagles are struggling for health as the weekend fast approaches, the historic three-peat.

When speaking to the media on Thursday, Mahomes addressed his team’s experience on the biggest stage which has helped the Chiefs condition their bodies ahead of the Super Bowl.

“I think guys are ready to go,” Mahomes said. “Obviously, it’s a lot of buildup into the Super Bowl, and a lot of the guys have done it before, but you continue to detail the details, you continue to work hard, and all this buildup, it makes you ready to go on a Super Bowl Sunday.”

There has only been one player limited in the Chiefs practice so far so as Mahomes said, the reigning champs are ready to go.
