It was a wild morning in Dallas on Wednesday.
The Cowboys traded a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Steelers for Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round pick.
Pickens is now in the Big D, as the team introduced their newest acquisition in an introductory conference call.
“I feel great,” said Pickens via Cowboys.com. “I like the mojo here. I like the swag. There’s a lot of new players I’ve been meeting. [We’ve] got a great thing going, for sure.”
One of the first conversations Pickens had since the trade was with quarterback Dak Prescott. Pickens had nothing but positive words to say about the highest-paid quarterback in the league.
“He’s a very prolific QB, and smart, at that,” Pickens said about Prescott. “I’m very glad to work with him.”
On the field, Pickens is an elite talent. Pickens has 174 receptions, 2,841 yards, and 12 touchdowns.
However, his off-the-field antics have been a cause for concern, especially when Mike Tomlin said he had to “grow up.” Pickens is ready to prove that he’s changed.
“I’m gonna take it one day at a time,” he said. “Everybody in the world is working on growing and bettering themselves. I feel like growth is me moving in a great direction and coming to the Cowboys. … Working every day. That’s how you build a winning culture in any sport.

Part of the reason why the Cowboys traded for Pickens is to pair him with All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.
When healthy, Lamb is one of the three best receivers in the NFL.
Lamb is two years removed from leading the league in receptions (135), with career highs in receiving yards (1,749) and touchdowns (12).
“CeeDee is a super dynamic receiver, super dynamic person, player,” said Pickens. “I just feel like, schematically, you won’t be able to double everybody, so that’ll be a great thing for me and him.”
