New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr exited Sunday’s win over the Giants with a hand injury. How bad is the injury, and will Carr miss significant time?

Derek Carr Fractures Hand

This could be the end of Carr’s 2024 campaign. Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Carr suffered a “significant” fracture to his left, non-throwing hand.

Carr will be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks.

With the Saints at 5-8 and a less than 1% chance to make the postseason, Carr’s season is likely over.

Carr injured his hand late in the fourth quarter. The Saints quarterback dove into the air and landed on his hand. Carr was forced to leave the game.

Jake Haener replaced Carr and finished the game, with the Saints holding on for a 14-11 win.

Who Will Play Quarterback For The Saints?

On Monday, Saints interim coach Darren Rizzi is also in concussion protocol. Rizzi said Carr is “week-to-week” with the injuries.

However, the update to Carr’s injury likely puts him out for the Saints Week 15 game against the Washington Commanders.

Haener is the likely candidate to start on Sunday, considering he replaced Carr on Sunday. Rookie Spencer Rattler started three games this season, going 0-3.
