The 2025 NFL League Year. Find out who the Cowboys traded for below.

Cowboys Acquire Kaiir Elam Via Trade

The Cowboys have added a cornerback to their secondary.

The Dallas Cowboys are sending a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Buffalo Bills for cornerback Kaiir Elam and a 2025 sixth-round selection.

The Bills selected Elam in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Elam’s best season was his rookie year, when he recorded 41 tackles, six deflections, and three interceptions. Elam also started six games that season.

The next year, Elam played in only three games due to an ankle injury.

The soon-to-be 24-year-old bounced back in 2024 by starting in four of 13 games, finishing with 26 tackles and two deflections.

With Dallas unlikely to pick up Elam’s fifth-year option, the Cowboys are getting a motivated Elam who wants to earn a contract at the end of the season.

Elam’s father, Abram, played safety for the Cowboys in 2006 and 2011.

Cowboys Trade For Kenneth Murray Jr.

The Cowboys are rolling the dice on another former first-round player.

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Dallas is acquiring Tennessee Titans linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. via trade. The Cowboys and Titans will swap late-round picks.

The Los Angeles Chargers selected Murray in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

After four seasons with the Chargers, Murray, 26, signed a two-year contract with the Tennessee Titans.

Murray became a tackling machine for the Titans, recording 95 tackles in 2024. Murray also had 3.5 sacks and one interception.

Murray also carried an affordable contract of a $5.99 million base salary and a $1 million roster bonus.

The Cowboys have major issues at linebacker. DeMarvion Overshown will miss time this season rehabbing a knee injury.

Eric Kendricks, last season’s leading tackler, is a free agent.

Murray should step in and start at linebacker right away.
