Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is dealing with a hamstring injury. Prescott was projected to miss up to four games, but a new report says it could be more.

Dak Prescott Injury Worse Than Expected

Per NFL Network’s Jane Slater, Prescott’s hamstring tendon partially tore off the bone. This injury is known as a partial avulsion.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday that Prescott would likely be placed on injured reserve, meaning he would miss at least four games.

However, the new hamstring diagnosis typically requires more than four weeks.

Prescott will seek more opinions on his injury before deciding on a course of action for his rehab.

The Cowboys quarterback injured his hamstring late in the third quarter of Sunday’s 27-21 loss at the Atlanta Falcons.

Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Situation

With Prescott out, the Cowboys (3-5) will turn to Cooper Rush on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles (6-2).

Rush has filled in for Prescott before, notably in 2022, when he went 4-1 in five starts.

Rush has completed 165 of 275 es for 1,786 yards, nine touchdowns, and six interceptions in his career.

Trey Lance will serve as Rush’s backup. The San Francisco 49ers traded Lance for a 2024 fourth-round pick before the 2023 season.
