The Colorado Rockies started off the 2025 MLB season on one of the worst paces in baseball history. But before they can “attempt” to break the record for most losses in a single season, they’re setting new marks for ineptitude, and have now done something that no team in the long history of the game.

Rockies Make MLB History By Losing 21 Straight Series

After Tuesday’s loss to the Chicago Cubs in game two of their mid-week, three game set, the Rockies have now lost 18 of their last 21 games, and are now sporting an abysmal 9-46 record for the season.

To add to their historically bad start, they have now lost 21 straight series dating back to last season, the longest streak that the MLB has ever seen. The Rockies have lost their first 18 sets of the current campaign, and finished 2024 off by losing three straight.

The expectations were low, and the Rockies have been even worse than expected. Colorado was given an over/under win total of 58.5 before the season began, the second-worst of any team, ahead of only the White Sox. They had posted a mark of 8-42 through the first 50 games of the season, which was the worst start of any team in 150 years.

As of now, they are on pace to finish with a record of 26-136, which would make the Rockies the worst team in MLB history.

Through the first two months of the 2025 season, Colorado has the worst batting average at .219 while playing in one of the most hitter-friendly parks in baseball. They rank in the bottom three in on base percentage, hits, and runs, and no team in the majors has stuck out more at the plate.

Things aren’t much better on the pitching side. Their 5.61 ERA as a team is easily the highest figure in the MLB, and they’ve given up 55 more runs than any other team in either league.
