Report: Chelsea Communicates Enzo Fernandez’s Price to Real Madrid

La Liga giants Real Madrid will reportedly have to pay upwards of $120 million to sign Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. The Blues communicated the price tag to the All-Whites after they made an official inquiry about the player.
Record 15-time European champions Real Madrid have not fired on all cylinders this season. With Toni Kroos gone and Luka Modric only playing sporadically, there is a balance issue in midfield. The team does not have an expert organizer in the middle of the park, which has left them exposed against high-quality opponents. According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Los Merengues want to solve this problem by adding a young player who can take on the role of a No. 8, and Chelsea midfielder Fernandez is their candidate of choice.
Real Madrid Will Have to Pay a Hefty Fee to Sign Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea
Chelsea holds Fernandez in high regard, but he is seemingly not untouchable, as Chelsea have communicated the sum they will accept for the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner. As per the aforementioned report, Chelsea will let Fernandez leave for €120 million ($126.4 million), which will make him the most expensive g in Real Madrid’s history. Former Chelsea winger Eden Hazard, who ed Los Blancos for a whopping €115 million ($121.1 million) in 2019, currently holds that position.
Fernandez, 23, has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wanted to bring him to the club from River Plate but Benfica got to him first. Following his exceptional stint for Argentina at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Chelsea lapped him up for a jaw-dropping €121 million ($127.4 million) fee in January 2023.
He played extensively across the 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns. However, minutes have been a bit harder to come by under Enzo Maresca this season. According to Fichajes.net, the lack of game time has raised speculation about his future at Stamford Bridge, but his departure is not set in stone.
Since his switch from Benfica, Fernandez has played 77 games for the club in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing 10 assists. The gifted central midfielder, who is worth €75/$78.9 million (as per Transfermarkt), will see his contract expire on June 30, 2032.
