Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson headlines his first MCU movie in Captain America: Brave New World. With the embargoes set to lift this week, how will the movie perform with critics? Below are predictions for the Rotten Tomatoes score of Captain America: Brave New World.

Captain America: Brave New World Kicks Off Marvel In 2025

Marvel has shifted its release strategy in recent years.

After The Marvels flopped, Disney decided to scale back on Marvel projects, with a three-movie maximum limit per year.

Deadpool & Wolverine was the only MCU movie released in 2024. The scarcity paid off, as the third Deadpool movie was the second highest-grossing movie of the year with $1.3 billion.

Marvel will look to continue the momentum with Captain America: Brave New World, the first MCU film of 2025.

After the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson is now officially Captain America. After an attack on the life of President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford), Captain America must defuse an international incident before it sends the world into chaos.

Captain America: Brave New World opens on February 14, 2025.

How will critics respond to Mackie’s first solo outing as Captain America?

Per Polymarket, Brave New World is expected to debut between 60% and 80% on the Tomatometer (+213).

For reference, here’s how the other Captain America movies did on the Tomatometer:

  • 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger — 80%
  • 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier — 90%
  • 2016’s Captain America: Civil War — 90%

MyTimetoShine, an X that has previously confirmed Marvel scoops, wrote that Brave New World is a “classic three-star movie.” If true, that falls in line with the 60% to 80% prediction.

The social media embargo lifts on Feb. 11 at p.m. PT. The review embargo lifts the next morning at 9 a.m. PT.
