Quarterback Bryce Young will start for the Carolina Panthers on Sunday due to an injury to Andy Dalton. Find out more details about Young’s insertion into the lineup below.

Bryce Young To Start In Place Of Andy Dalton

On Tuesday, Dalton sprained his right thumb in a car crash while driving his wife, three children, and dog. Thankfully, Dalton’s family did not suffer any major injuries.

Former first-round pick Young, who was benched for Dalton, will now start in Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.

“Scary moment, for sure. Everyone was OK. Everyone is healthy. Unfortunately, in the accident, he [Dalton] did sprain his thumb,” said head coach Dave Canales via Joe Person. “Bryce will be playing this week for us, and we’ll be evaluating Andy day to day going into this weekend. [We’ll] see if we can get him [Dalton] up as the two on game day.”

Since taking over for Young in Week 3, Dalton, 36, has completed 106 of 160 es for 989 yards, seven touchdowns, and six interceptions. Dalton won his first start before losing the next four.

Bryce Young Gets Second Chance

Young was benched earlier this season after an 0-2 start after throwing zero touchdowns and three interceptions.

It’s been a nightmare start for Young. As the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Young is 2-16 as the Panthers starter. Young’s career numbers are 352 of 592 es for 3,176 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions, with a 59.5 completion percentage.

Now, Young, 23, gets a shot at redemption and a chance to prove he’s capable of being a starting quarterback in this league.

The Panthers (1-6) hit the road to play the Denver Broncos (4-3) in Week 8.
