Bills Trade For Amari Cooper Just Hours After Davante Adams Move

We are still nearly three weeks away from the trade deadline for the 2024 Davante Adams, their division rival Buffalo Bills have made a significant move to bolster their crew of catchers.

The Adams trade was a long time coming. There had been reports dating back to early last season of the wideout’s unhappiness with his situation in Las Vegas, which came to the forefront during the first few weeks of the 2024 campaign. New York always seemed like the most viable option, as it would reunite Adams with Aaron Rodgers, and the two sides finally struck a deal early on Tuesday morning.
Is Adams any kind of solution to the team’s issues? The Jets now sit at 2-4, have a leaky offensive line, and are already on an interim head coach. The 31-year-old gives Rodgers yet another familiar target, who is added to a group of players that the veteran QB has yet to elevate to the expected standard.
Just a few hours later, the team that beat the Jets on Monday night made a significant move. Staying in the AFC East, the Buffalo Bills have traded a third-round pick to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for wide receiver Amari Cooper. Josh Allen was praised early in the year for his efficiency in getting everyone in the offense involved now that Stefon Diggs is gone, but the team apparently needed one more weapon to add to their arsenal as they look to take home the division for the 5th year in a row.
Both Receivers Over Age 30 But Still Productive

While both moves are significant, each of the wide receivers can be considered to be slightly past his prime. Adams is still a 1,000+ yard receiver and is just a year removed from being named as a First Team All Pro 3 straight times, but his numbers dipped slightly in 2023, and he has yet to get things going yet in 2024.
Cooper is still a 1,000 yard receiver as well, and was selected for the Pro Bowl just last season. But he apparently became expendable for the Cleveland Browns, who could be in a fire sale as their record has dropped to 1-5 on the season.
The Jets will take on the Steelers on Sunday Night Football in Week 7, while the Bills will play host to the Titans.
