The NCAA Tournament always creates stars. McNeese State men’s basketball manager Amir Khan has made significant headlines this March Madness.

Who Is Amir Khan?

Khan is the manager for the McNeese State Cowboys basketball team.

One month ago, Khan, 22, walked out of the tunnel with a giant boombox draped around his neck.

With Lud Foe’s In & Out playing on the speaker, Khan began walking down the tunnel and rapping the lyrics. The team fed off Khan’s energy as they went to the court.

The video has over 230K views on X.

“Not only did I know the song, but it is one of my favorite songs,” Khan told The Associated Press. “So yeah, I just rapped a few of the lyrics. Some of the players saw that I was rapping it, and they just kind of hyped me up, telling me, ‘Hey, just keep going, rap for us!’ We had the camera on us, but that’s usually not a new thing. So yeah, I’m just rapping and having fun with it.”

Khan has now become a viral sensation.

With McNeese in the NCAA tournament, Khan’s “aura” has only skyrocketed.

Khan walked McNeese out to the court with a boombox before their opening-round game against Clemson.

Despite being the No. 12 seed, McNeese came out with a 69-67 victory over the No. 5 Tigers.

Amir Khan Signs NIL Deals

Major corporations are taking notice of Khan’s popularity.

Before the start of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, Khan signed NIL deals with Buffalo Wild Wings, Insomnia Cookies, and TickPick.

Since NIL began a few years ago, Khan has become the first student manager to secure an NIL deal.

Khan’s aura has spread to the McNeese cheerleaders, who wore socks with the manager’s face.

As long as McNeese stays in the tournament, Khan’s stock will continue to grow.

No. 12 McNeese plays No. 4 Purdue in the second round on Saturday, March 22, at 12:10 p.m. ET.
