Aidan Hutchinson Wants To Play With Myles Garrett

On a recent episode of The Squeeze podcast with Lions fan Taylor Lautner and his wife, Tay, Hutchinson spoke about possibly playing with Garrett, the 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

“If me and Myles were to pair up, that would be deadly, you know?” Hutchinson said. “I was talking to him, we were at the Honors, and we were just talking about what could be. And although it’s probably unlikely, I think I would be thrilled to play next to him if it were to happen.”

The Lions were decimated with injuries in 2024, especially on the defensive side. 13 of the defensive players on the Lions were on injured reserve by the time the playoffs rolled around.

One of the players on IR was Hutchinson, who suffered a season-ending leg injury in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Despite being the No. 1 seed, the Lions ultimately failed to reach the Super Bowl, losing to the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round.

Adding a player like Garrett could help the Lions reach their first Super Bowl in franchise history.

“Our whole D-line would be totally elevated, and we would, whew, that’d be a scary defensive line,” Hutchinson said about Garrett. “We get along, too. I’ve seen him these last few years at different things. He texted me after I got hurt — it was just a cool thing. Guys outside of your own team who reach out to you, so I think he’s a good dude. If he does, great, but I don’t know. We’ll see. But that would be awesome.”

Myles Garrett Requests Trade

Earlier this month, Garrett requested a trade out of Cleveland.

“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent,” Garrett wrote in a statement. “The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl.

Browns general manager Andrew Berry previously said they would not trade Garrett.

Garrett, 29, is arguably the best rusher in the NFL. This past season, Garrett became the first NFL player to record 14 or more sacks in four consecutive seasons.

For a team to acquire Garrett, it would take a king’s ransom, including multiple first-round draft picks.
