On Thursday’s edition of Aaron Rodgers spoke about his exit from the New York Jets and his future in the NFL.
Aaron Rodgers Discusses Brief Meeting With The Jets
"I figured when I flew across country to meet with the Jets there was gonna be a conversation..
We sat down in the office & 20 seconds in the coach said we're going in a different direction..
That's totally fine but they could have just told me that on the phone" ~… pic.twitter.com/By7QvLK7tM

Earlier this offseason, the Jets informed Rodgers that they would be releasing the quarterback and moving in a different direction.
When Rodgers “flew across the country on his own dime” to meet with new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey, it did not go as planned.
Rodgers expected to have a conversation, but he quickly realized that the Jets had already made their decision.
“The confusing thing to me, and the strange thing, was when I went out there, I meet with the coach. We start talking, he runs out of the room. I’m like, ‘That’s kind of strange,'” Rodgers told Pat McAfee. “Then he comes back with the GM and I’m like, ‘All right.’ So, we sit down in the office, and I think we’re going to have this long conversation.”
That’s not what happened. Glenn asked Rodgers if he wanted to play football.
“I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m interested,” Rodgers told Glenn. “And he said, ‘We’re going in a different direction at quarterback.’ I was kind of shocked. Now I’m not shocked because I didn’t think that was a possibility. Listen, of course, if they want to move on, that’s totally fine, but shocked because I just flew across country. You could have told me this on the phone if we weren’t even going to have a conversation.”
The meeting only lasted around 20 minutes and got a little contentious when Glenn inferred that Rodgers might be a distraction in the meeting room.
“I said, ‘You don’t know me,” Rodgers told Glenn. “And he said, ‘You don’t know me.’ And then I said, ‘Exactly, which is why I flew across the country to have a face-to-face meeting with you to talk about my experience with the Jets and to hear your vision for the team.'”

Rodgers made one thing abundantly clear in his interview: he has not decided on his future.
“I’m open to anything and attached to nothing,” Rodgers said. “Retirement could still be a possibility, but right now my focus has been, and will continue to be, on my personal life. And that’s what I’ve told the coaches. There’s still conversations that are being had. It’s all been very honest lines of communication.”
Rodgers acknowledged that he met with the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed his conversations with their coaching staff.
“I’ve talked to Mike Tomlin,” Rodgers said. “He’s more than I even thought from afar, as far as the type of person he is. I have a lot of respect for what he’s accomplished in the league. [Offensive coordinator] Arthur Smith, talk about a guy that doesn’t need to work. He doesn’t need the work, but he’s a grinder. We’ve had a friendship for a couple years now. I like what he’s all about.”
Rodgers gave no timeline for his decision and said it’s OK if Pittsburgh decides to “move on.”
