The PGA Tour heads to Dublin, Ohio, this weekend for the annual Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club.

As a signature event, the Memorial features a $20 million purse but there will be a notable player missing this weekend. Rory McIlroy won’t be a part of the field in Ohio, opting to skip another high-profile event, much to the surprise of golf legend Jack Nicklaus.

Only 72 players are listed in the field, with the top 50 guaranteed a share of the purse. The smaller field size ensures a significant payday for those who make the cut. The winner’s share is valued at $4 million, 20% of the total purse, representing a 2% increase over traditional signature events.

Let’s go over what’s on the line this weekend at the 2025 Memorial Tournament.

Memorial Tournament 2025 Purse

The Memorial Tournament was founded by Jack Nicklaus in 1976.

Unlike any other tournament on the Tour, the Memorial features annual honorees who are celebrated at each event. Every year, an induction ceremony is held to recognize past greats of the game, and a commemorative plaque is installed at the Muirfield Village clubhouse.

As a signature event, the Memorial Tournament boasts one of the highest purses on the PGA Tour, valued at $20 million. However, its payout structure differs from other signature events.

Only the top 50 players will be paid after the cut, with a guaranteed minimum payout of $52,000.

The added incentive for players isn’t just the larger purse, but also the higher percentage allocated to the winner’s share. The tournament winner will receive 20% of the purse rather than the standard 18%, meaning a $4 million check is on the line this weekend. In addition the winner will also receive 700 FedEx Cup points.

Below, we’ll break down the 2025 Memorial Tournament purse and payouts for every player this weekend.

2025 Memorial Tournament Purse Is Up 67% Since 2022

The Memorial Tournament is one of the select events on the PGA Tour with “invitational status,” meaning it features a smaller, more exclusive field. In 2024, the field size was reduced to 73 players, and a limited field continues to be the standard moving forward.

While the total purse has remained the same since 2023, the winner’s share increased by 2%, allowing the first-place finisher to take home an even $4 million.

Since 2022, the purse has grown from $12 million to $20 million. The 67% increase marks one of the most significant jumps on the Tour.

Here are the past winners and payouts for the Memorial Tournament since 1999.
