2024 Paris Olympics Men’s Basketball: Which Teams Qualified?

The 2024 Paris Olympics are set to kick off on July 26. One of the most anticipated competitions will be the men’s basketball tournament. Which teams qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics?

2024 Paris Olympics Men’s Basketball: Groups

12 teams will participate in men’s basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics. There are three groups consisting of four teams each.

Group A

  • Australia
  • Greece
  • Canada
  • Spain

Group B

  • Japan
  • Brazil

Group C

Group play runs from Saturday, July 27 through Sunday, August 4. Each team will play the other three teams in its group. Teams will earn two points for a win, one point for a loss, and zero points for a loss by forfeit.

The top two teams in each group will advance to the single-elimination quarterfinals, a.k.a. the knockout rounds. The two best third-place teams will also advance to the quarterfinals.

The knockout rounds run from Tuesday, August 6, to Sunday, August 11.

Team USA Begins Training Camp

Team USA has begun training camp in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Team USA’s roster includes:

  • Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry
  • Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant
  • Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid
  • Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards
  • Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis
  • Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker
  • Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum
  • Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo
  • Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday
  • Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton
  • Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard

Team USA’s group play schedule: July 28 vs. Serbia, July 31 vs. South Sudan, and August 3 vs. Puerto Rico.

Since 1992’s Dream Team, the United States has won the gold medal in seven of the last eight Olympic games. Their lone loss came in 2004 when the U.S. won the bronze medal.

If Team USA wins the competition, Durant will become the United States’ all-time leader in gold medals for men’s basketball, with four. The men’s basketball team at the 2024 Paris Olympics is are currently the favorites to win at -150 on Olympics betting sites.
