Draymond Green Speaks About Pascal Siakam: “He Destroyed Me”

Pascal Siakam was a major factor in the NBA Playoffs.
Draymond Green Praises Pascal Siakam During TNT Broadcast
There were some in the media that were surprised at the production outburst from the 31-year-old power forward, but Draymond Green wasn’t one of them.
Green, while working on the set as an analyst for TNT, spoke about how he views Pascal Siakam and touched on some of their playing history against one another.
“I lost my matchup to Julius Randle. The only other time I really felt like I lost my matchup in a series was against Pascal Siakam…He destroyed me.”

After doubling down on his own sentiment that Julius Randle outplayed him in the Round 2 series between the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves, Green compared Randle to Siakam in the following way:
“I lost my matchup to Julius Randle. The only other time that I feel I really lost my matchup in a series was against Pascal Siakam. When we played Toronto…He destroyed me.”
Draymond Green was of course referencing the 2019 NBA Finals, when Siakam was a young part of the Toronto Raptors’ core. The Raptors won the series 4-2 to secure the first championship in franchise history, and Siakam pitched in by being the second leading scorer on the team behind Kawhi Leonard.
Siakam Was A Leading Contributor During Raptors Title Run
While matched up primarily against Green for the six games, Siakam averaged 19.8 points per contest, all while grabbing 7.5 rebounds and dishing out 3.7 assists. Not bad numbers for going toe-to-toe with a guy who won the Defensive Player of the Year Award just two seasons prior.
Green himself was no slouch in that series. He was productive all over the floor, putting up solid statistics to go along with his overall impact that he has on the Warriors as a whole. He was on the verge of averaging a triple-double in the six games, putting up a line of 12.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 9.3 assists.
Draymond Green’s success in that series makes his analysis of Siakam’s game all the more impressive.
Pascal Siakam and the Pacers will look to continue their hot streak on Sunday evening. Game 3 of their series with the Knicks will be played at 8pm eastern, and is the first game of the series to take place in Indianapolis.
