As per The Sun, Liverpool saved £13 million by not starting Nunez since March 2025. As per the agreement with Benfica, Liverpool would have had to pay the fee had Nunez started one more Premier League or Champions League game.

This is, of course, not the first time Al Hilal is eyeing a move for a Liverpool player. In the summer of 2023, they made waves by trying to lure Mohamed Salah away from Anfield. They reportedly tabled a £150 million bid for the right winger, which Liverpool turned down. The club was supposedly ready to up the offer to £215 million, but the Reds showed little interest.
Al Hilal were in the running to sign Salah right until he penned a new two-year deal with Liverpool.
