Ryan Moore Will Ride Delacroix In The Derby As He Looks For Fifth Epsom Classic Win 4nb15

It’s been confirmed that the 2025 Ryan Moore Derby ride will be DELACROIX, as Ballydoyle number one jockey has picked him over their two other runners in the Epsom Classic – including preferring him over the winter ante-post Derby favourite The Lion In Winter.

It’s official – the Ryan Moore Derby ride for 2025 will be DELACROIX – who is now set to go off as the favourite.
In the early part of the season it was thought Moore would be sticking with The Lion In Winter, who had been the ante-post market leader over the winter.
However, a below-par return run at York in the Dante Stakes and two solid runs by Delacroix at Leopardstown had give the four-time winner of the race a dilemma from the Aidan O’Brien Derby runners.
Delacroix has returned this season to impress in both the Ballysax Stakes and Derby Trial at Leopardstown – two races that have produced Epsom Derby winners in the past.
Harzard and High Chaparral are past winners of the Ballysax to follow-up. While Sinndar, Galileo and High Chaparral (again) are examples of Leopardstown Derby Trial winners to add the Epsom Derby.
Delacroix has been handed draw 14, which has a fair record since stalls were introduced in 1967 (4 wins).
While Moore will be trying to become the first jockey to win the Epsom Derby three times on the bounce since the 1920’s.
Having won the race last year on City Of Troy and in 2023 on Auguste Rodin.
The other Aidan O’Brien Epsom Derby runners 2025 will see Colin Keane will ride The Lion In Winter and Wayne Lordan will get the leg-up on Lambourn.

How Many Times Has Ryan Moore Won The Epsom Derby? 55352o
Ryan Moore has won the Epsom Derby four times – and counting.
The leading rider broke his duck in the most famous flat race in Britain back in 2010 on the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Workforce.
This son on King’s Best was a runaway seven-length winner of the Derby that year and in the process broke the course record in the race. His time of 2m 31.33 still stands as the quickest today.
Heading into 2025, Workforce’s win in 2010 is also the most recent for Juddmonte (Khalid Abdullah), who also won the race with Commander In Chief (1993) and Quest For Fame (1990).
Since Workforce, Moore has added another Derby win on Ruler Of The World in 2013 and has ridden the last two winners of the race – Auguste Rodin and City Of Troy.
If the Ryan Moore Derby ride in 2025 can win again – he’ll become the first jockey to win three on the bounce since Steve Donoghue rode a trio of winners between 1921 and 1923.
However, it won’t be a Derby treble first for trainer Aidan O’Brien, who has won the last two as well.
As we saw three Aidan O’Brien Derby winners between 2012 and 2014 – Camelot, Ruler Of The World and Australia.
