Making the most of the special transfer window ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, Manchester City have secured the services of Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from Serie A side AC Milan. The window closes on June 10 — four days before the 2025 CWC commences in the United States.

Man City have agreed to splurge a handsome £46.3 million fee to sign the 26-year-old midfield talent. There are some performance and objective clauses in the contract, which could bump the total transfer fee. He is set to sign a five-year contract with the Mancunians after completing his medical next week.

Reijnders made headlines with his jaw-dropping performances for AC Milan last season. He emerged as the most prolific midfielder in Serie A in 2024/25, scoring 10 goals and providing 5 assists in 37 appearances. He also created 47 chances, completed 467 es into the final third, made 38 interceptions, and completed 36 dribbles. His all-around prowess made him one of the most sought-after midfielders in the world.

Although official figures are not available, Tijjani Reijnders is likely to earn significantly more than he did at AC Milan.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Netherlands international will pocket around €7 million (£5.9 million) net per season at Manchester City.

He was earning around £2.9 million net, after bonuses, at San Siro.
