This week, FPL Salah will be presenting his FPL tips that include the go-to options for Blank Gameweek 29. Liverpool, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, and Aston Villa do not have a fixture this week, which means our options are more limited.

FPL Tips Blank Gameweek 29

This week, I will look at my top five staple picks for Blank Gameweek 29. If you are on a Free Hit, these would be my first picks, and if you aren’t, I would be looking to transfer in as many of them as possible.

Josko Gvardiol (£5.9m) – Manchester City

Fixture: Brighton (H)
Manchester City’s defence hasn’t been great this term, but they do still rank in the top eight for xGC. Josko Gvardiol, however, is a pick that can get returns at both ends of the pitch. He already has five goals this season and poses the highest goal threat amongst defenders with an xG of 4.18.

The Croatian is extremely attacking and has a decent home fixture this week. Given the options this week, I think he is the best defender to own for Blank Gameweek 29. He is also a good pick for the next two weeks as Man City play Leicester (H) in Gameweek 30.

Erling Haaland (£14.7m) – Manchester City

Fixture: Brighton (H)
Erling Haaland hasn’t provided value for his price this season. However, the Norwegian has 20 goals this season, with seven in the last 10 league matches. Man City have a decent home game in Blank Gameweek 29 against Brighton.

Despite City’s poor season, they have still scored the second-most goals (53) and boast the third-best xG (50.2). They are also the favourites to score 2.5+ goals (38%) next gameweek. With popular assets like Mohamed Salah (£13.8m) and Alexander Isak (£9.4m) blanking this week, he is going to be one of the best captaincy options. Good fixtures usually breed good form, especially among elite FPL assets like Haaland.

Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m) – Manchester United

Fixture: Leicester City (A)
Bruno Fernandes has seven goals and nine assists this season, with two goals and two assists in the last three games. The Portuguese has been putting up good stats too, with an xG of 8.3 and an xA of 5.3.

Manchester United have one of the best fixtures of the season as they take on Leicester City. The Foxes have conceded the second-most goals (61), with an xGC of 50.9 (third-worst). United will be strong favourites for this, and Bruno will be the most likely one to get the attacking returns. He is one of the most reliable options in the game – he will play 90 minutes most weeks, is on penalties and set-pieces, and has high goal and assist threat.

Chris Wood (£7.3m) – Nottingham Forest

Fixture: Ipswich (A)
Chris Wood is having a phenomenal season, netting 18 goals and three assists. He has been clinical in front of goal and is Nottingham Forest’s clear talisman.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are well and truly in the hunt for a Champions League spot, and they have a fine fixture this week to further their goal. Ipswich have conceded the third-most goals (57) and have the second-worst xGC (51.7), so it looks inevitable Forest score a few here.

Wood is nailed to start, plays up top, and is the first-choice penalty taker for his team. The Kiwi is also at 40% to score at any time in Blank Gameweek 29 and a genuine captaincy contender.

Justin Kluivert (£6.2m) – Bournemouth

Fixture: Brentford (H)
Justin Kluivert has 12 goals and six assists and has another good fixture to add to those returns. He is nailed to start just now, has both goal and assist threat, and is the number one penalty taker too. The Dutchman also takes some set-pieces, so he has many avenues to points.

Bournemouth have a good fixture as they welcome Brentford to the Vitality Stadium. Thomas Frank’s side have conceded the seventh-most goals (43), with an xGC of 41.5 (eighth-worst), so they do give up chances. Bournemouth, on the other hand, have been good going forward, scoring 45 goals (seventh-most), with an xG of 47.69 (fourth-best).

Kluivert is at a healthy 40% to score at any time in Blank Gameweek 29.
