Spurs March On To Europa League Last 16 With 3-0 Victory Against Elfsborg

Although Tottenham Hotspur were the overwhelming pre-match favourites with the best football betting sites, the north London side were evidently finding it difficult to break Elfsborg down early on.

The first half was rather uneventful, with Spurs having basically all of the ball and a lot of shots, but never really looking like scoring. However, it was clear there was a gulf in class between the two sides and that a goal was comping for Ange Postecoglou‘s side.

Spurs continued to press and dominate proceedings, but were unable to break the deadlock in the first half.

This perhaps wasn’t ideal for Postecoglou, who of course is under huge pressure at the moment and is one of the favourites with the best sports betting apps to be the next Premier League manager sacked.

That being said, a goal was surely coming for Spurs in the second half. Plus, the north London side were already guaranteed a place in the Europa League last 16 unless several results went against them.

HT: Spurs 0-0 Elfsborg

Ange Postecoglou made three changes at half time, with Dejan Kulusevski, Yves Bissouma and Radu Dragusin all coming on as Spurs looked to find that elusive opener.

Frustration was beginning to tell in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with fans growing restless as the clock ticked on minute by minute.

That was until the 70th minute when Spurs finally broke the deadlock through substitute Dane Scarlett. It was Kulusevski who assisted, with Scarlett making no mistake in finding the back of the net for his first ever Tottenham goal.

The floodgates then opened somewhat, as Oyindamola Ajayi doubled Spurs’ lead with Scarlett this time turning provider. Tottenham secured a routine win in injury time with Mikey Moore adding a third to secure Spurs’ spot in the Last 16 of the Europa League.
