Manchester United and England centre-back Harry Maguire has revealed his alternate dream career: a professional golfer.

The revelation came during a light-hearted “team-mates” game with long-time teammate Jonny Evans, where both players were asked to guess Maguire’s career path if football hadn’t worked out.

Both defenders quickly jotted down “golfer,” mutually pointing out Maguire’s ion for the sport.

Maguire’s Golfing Talent

Maguire’s love for golf is well-documented. The defender, who plays off an impressive handicap of six, participated in the LIV Golf pro-am in Andalucía in 2023.

Golf has become more than just a hobby for Maguire – it serves as a mental escape from the pressures of professional football, especially during challenging periods at Manchester United.

While Evans was quick to praise Maguire’s golfing prowess, he couldn’t resist adding a cheeky jab. “Easy one, that. Harry’s a very good golfer. Cheats a bit, but he’s good!” Evans quipped.

Maguire smiled and nodded along.

The Road Ahead for United

As Maguire dreams of birdies and eagles on the golf course, his focus remains on turning around Manchester United’s fortunes on the pitch.

United are gearing up for their first match under new manager Ipswich on Sunday.

Currently sitting 13th in the Premier League table, United are in dire need of a morale-boosting victory.

It remains to be seen whether Maguire will be a key part of Amorim’s plans or not, but given that Amorim’s tactical setup involves a back-three, it’s likely that he’ll feature, at least in the short term.
