The BOSS Open is the only tournament on the ATP calendar sponsored by an apparel company, and it features one of its brand ambassadors, Taylor Fritz against the hometown favorite Alexander Zverev. (Nike, Adidas, Lululemon, and others do not sponsor tournaments so this is truly an anomally.)
It is surprising that the German apparel company has not enlisted Hamburg native Alexander Zverev who has been an Adidas player for years. There could be mixed fan loyalties ing the players during the grass court final; whereas, in a normal circumstance Zverev would have all of the fan .

Alexander Zverev vs. Taylor Fritz Head-to-Head
The two ATP tour veterans have played 12 times with Fritz holding a modest 7-5 lead. Only three of those matches were on grass, and Fritz has a 2-1 edge in those.
Fritz has spent the majority of 2025 dealing with an abdominal injury that has either sidelined him or had him playing less than 100% when he is on the court. Taylor Fritz is vying for his first title this year.
Alexander Zverev is competing for his second title of the year. The other was also won on German soil over Ben Shelton at the outdoor clay courts of the BMW Open in Munich.
Who needs the win more?
Both players would argue they need the win. Zverev was the World No. 2 this spring during World No. 1 Jannik Sinner’s three-month suspension. He was not able to gain ground on Sinner during that time and currently finds himself at World No. 3.
The injury has been debilitating for Taylor Fritz, and he would benefit from this deep run in a Wimbledon warmup tournament.
Each player is trying to up his game before Wimbledon begins on June 30. Zverev and Fritz are in pursuit of their maiden Grand Slam title and want to dethrone the Wimbledon defending champion, Carlos Alcaraz.
