NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Blaney maintained aspirations of matching his 2023 effort.

Despite posting five DNFs in the season’s opening 13 events, Blaney remained competitive in the races he finished, highlighted by back-to-back P5s at Darlington and Bristol and consecutive P3s at Texas and Kansas. Then came a P38 at Charlotte two weeks ago.

“I never gave up hope, that’s for sure,” Blaney said, as reported by NASCAR.com. “We’ve had great speed all year, just hasn’t been the best year for us as far as good fortune.”

Good fortune finally arrived last Sunday at Nashville Superspeedway. Blaney recorded a 2.830-second win over runner-up Carson Hocevar, who completed a career-best run after causing Lap 110 havoc with last-place finisher Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Can Blaney maintain his “good fortune,” entering Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway? Despite the win and qualifying for the playoffs, Blaney remained ranked No. 7 in the drivers’ standings, 118 points behind pace-setter William Byron.

Kyle Larson (+280), who earned a quiet P8 at Nashville, a venue he described as one of his worst, maintained the circuit’s best sports-betting option to capture his second Cup championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Christopher Bell (+450) was tabbed with the second-best odds, followed by Blaney (+600), the ‘23 titleholder who apparently does not hold an interest in competing in an F1 event.
