The Golden State Warriors suffered a disappointing second-round exit in the NBA Playoffs in 2025, in large part due to their inability to overcome an injury to star guard Stephen Curry.

As a result, many NBA experts expect the Warriors to make a splash during the offseason by acquiring another key contributor to help offset their reliance on Curry and round out the roster.

Golden State has been linked to several players but a few candidates stand out as realistic options, including Brook Lopez, Derrick White, and Cam Johnson. The Warriors are also expected to be among the top teams in the running for Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Read on to learn more about the Warriors top offseason trade targets.

Brook Lopez

NBA front office insider Bobby Marks reported that Bucks’ center Brook Lopez is drawing interest from the Warriors ahead of the offseason.

Lopez is an impending free agent and would fill a considerable hole at center for the Warriors without sacrificing their spacing on offense.

Lopez is still an effective rim defender at age 37 and has knocked down at least 36% of his 3-pointers in each of the past three seasons, making him a seemingly perfect fit for the Warriors in 2025-26.

Derrick White

Logan Murdock of The Ringer proposed that the Warriors go after Boston Celtics’ guard Derrick White, who has established himself as one of the best role players in the NBA over the past few seasons. He scored a career-high 16.4 points per game last year while knocking down 3.5 3-pointers per game at a 38.3% clip.

White has the ability to space the floor and defend the opposing team’s best player while serving as a secondary ball-handler alongside Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green.

Cam Johnson

The Warriors are expected to part ways with forward Jonathan Kuminga during the offseason, despite the 22-year-old’s emergence during the second round of the playoffs.

After Curry went down in Game 1, head coach Steve Kerr turned to Kuminga to help give Golden State’s anaemic offense a boost and Kuminga delivered by averaging over 24 points per game during the final four games of the series versus the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Brooklyn Nets are expected to be one of the top suitors for Kuminga’s services and could part ways with 29-year-old small forward Cam Johnson in order to get a deal done.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

If the Warriors want to make a big splash during the offseason, they could go after Bucks’ superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who may be looking for a way out of Milwaukee this offseason.

While he hasn’t formally demanded a trade, the Bucks appear to be trending towards a rebuild and Antetokounmpo is one of the few players on the roster who would bring back enough assets to jump start a new era in Milwaukee. Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga, and Moses Moody are among the players who might be included in a potential deal for the former NBA MVP.

The likelihood of a deal getting done will ultimately depend on whether or not the Bucks value immediate contributors or draft picks in a potential trade.
