It’s Championship Weekend in Foxborough. Four teams remain in the college men’s lacrosse championship. Here’s how to watch the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship.

Which Teams Are Competing For The NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship?

The four teams competing for a national championship in men’s lacrosse are No. 1 Cornell Big Red, No. 2 Maryland Terrapins, No. 5 Penn State Nittany Lions, and No. 6 Syracuse Orange.

Cornell (16-1) has been the top-ranked team in the country for most of the season. Their only loss came against Penn State on March 8.

The Big Red are led by First-Team All-American CJ Kirst, the NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse all-time leading goal scorer. Kirst has 76 goals, six away from tying the single-season record of 82.

Cornell has not won the championship since 1977.

It’s business as usual for the Maryland Terrapins (13-3), who are in their 11th Final Four since 2011. Maryland is looking to avenge their 2024 loss in the championship to Notre Dame.

Maryland’s last title came in 2022 when they defeated Cornell to complete an undefeated season.

Penn State (12-4) heads into Championship Weekend after scoring the game’s final eight goals against Notre Dame to advance 14-12 in the quarterfinals.

Penn State has now made three trips to the Final Four since 2019. However, the Nittany Lions have never played in Monday’s National Championship.

Before arriving at Penn State in 2011, Jeff Tambroni coached Cornell from 2001 to 2010.

The drought is over for Syracuse (13-5), who enter Championship Weekend for the first time since 2013.

For 30 years, no team dominated the sport more than Syracuse. The Orange have the most national championships in Division I history with 10.
