Jannik Sinner Comeback Alert: Noteworthy Practice Partners And Clay Court Prep Are Underway

Tennis fans, the Italian Open is less than a month away, which marks World No. 1 Jannik Sinner‘s return to tennis. Everyone has an opinion about his suspension, but the fact remains that he was missed in the hardcourt season.
Sinner res the court as the European clay court season makes its annual stop at the Italian Open on May 7. Many think about Sinner as a master hardcourt player, which is true. However, he defeated Carlos Alcaraz at the 2022 Croatia Open on clay. He is also a French Open semifinalist.
Jannik Sinner did not play the 2024 Italian Open because of a hip injury.
His return to the court will be met with watchful eyes. The hometown crowd’s cheering for him will help, but will he still be nervous?

Jannik Sinner Returns To Tennis As World No. 1
After his three-month suspension, Sinner returns as the World No. 1. No player could bridge the gap he created with points after he won the 2025 Australian Open.
Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz were the most likely to attempt to overtake Sinner, but neither played well enough at the Sunshine Double ATP 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami. Alcaraz has gotten into a clay-court winning streak by winning the Monte-Carlo Masters last week and reaching the Barcelona Open semifinals this week. This was enough to overtake Zverev as World No. 2, but not enough to jump ahead of Sinner.
Hopefully, Sinner Gets The Chance To Play Freely
Sinner served his suspension, which to some was ridiculously overblown, and to others was far too little.
He should not be bombarded with questions about it and should be allowed to play freely.
Whatever fans think of his suspension, the system deserves more scrutiny, given the ITIA’s handling of recent cases.
