NASCAR Xfinity Series officials rounded up the drivers the morning after the chaotic ending at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday.

The topic: On-track respect.

There appears to be little of it in modern stock-car racing.

That certainly was evident when Sammy Smith took out Taylor Gray in overtime, setting off a multi-machine wreck. The two had words while Austin Hill celebrated in Victory Lane after leading for only one lap.

Gray reportedly wanted to do more than talk following Saturday’s outing.

Will NASCAR’s lecture to the drivers create more on-track respect?
