James Bond now runs through Amazon. On Feb. 20, Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli ceded creative control of the spy franchise to Amazon MGM Studios. In the wake of the historic announcement, Gambling.com’s Entertainment expert James Leyfield has created a market for who will be the next leading female for the franchise. View the updated odds for the next Bond Girl.

Amazon MGM Studios Gains Control Of Bond

Once Amazon officially acquired MGM in 2022, it was only a matter of time before the tech company gained creative control of the James Bond franchise.

Wilson and Broccoli have been the gatekeepers of the Bond franchise since they took over in 1995, when Cuby Broccoli handed over control of Eon Productions, the company behind the James Bond films.

The Broccoli family was extremely protective of 007, refusing to commission spinoff movies or television shows during their tenure.

Wilson and Broccoli will remain co-owners of the franchise. However, Amazon MGM Studios will now run creative on Bond going forward.

Per Deadline, Amazon reportedly paid $1 billion to Wilson and Broccoli for the creative rights.

With Amazon in control, expect the studio to get right to work on greenlighting the 26th James Bond movie. The last Bond film was 2021’s No Time to Die, Daniel Craig’s final film as 007.
