USA Basketball will convene for training camp next week in Las Vegas. Will all 12 players — including Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard and Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid – report to camp?

Kawhi Leonard, Joel Embiid Expected Camp

On Thursday, Team USA coach Steve Kerr said all 12 players invited to play for the United States at the Olympics will report for training camp.

“We expect everybody to be good to go,” U.S. coach Steve Kerr said via AP News. “We’ve been in touch with everyone, not just those three guys. … We’ve been in communication constantly, so we expect all 12 guys to be ready to roll.” ´

Leonard, Embiid, and Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton suffered injuries during the 2024 NBA Playoffs. Leonard missed the final three games of the Clippers’ opening-round series loss to the Dallas Mavericks because of a knee injury.

Embiid played through a knee injury during the 76ers’ first-round loss to the New York Knicks. Meanwhile, Haliburton injured his hamstring in the Pacers’ Conference Finals defeat to the Boston Celtics.

Embiid and Haliburton were on track to attend Olympic training camp. Leonard was the question mark, though Kerr has been in with his camp for the last few weeks and believes the Clippers star will be able to compete.

“We’ve been monitoring this all along,” Kerr said via ESPN. “We have been in touch with Kawhi and his people, and he’s been working out now the last couple of weeks. So this is, obviously every roster spot is important. You just never know how these things are gonna play out, with injuries, things can happen, you just don’t know. So we’re in touch with everybody, and we will continue to stay in touch with the whole group as we head into Vegas next week. And you never know how things play out. There’s always a chance for change.”
