Carlos Sainz Gearing Up For Comeback At Australian Grand Prix

After undergoing appendicitis surgery and missing the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix ten days ago, Ferrari’s Spanish driver Carlos Sainz is in Melbourne and should be back in action this weekend at the Australian Grand Prix.

He came in third in the Bahrain Grand Prix (which kicked off the Formula 1 season on March 2) Carlos Sainz missed the Saudi Arabian GP the following week after being forced to undergo appendicitis surgery. He was replaced by Ferrari’s reserve driver, Briton Oliver Bearman.

Almost two weeks later, the Italian team has announced that the Spaniard is set to make his return to racing this weekend at the Australian Grand Prix. “Carlos has been here in Melbourne for two days and is doing well. We expect him to drive,” said a Scuderia spokesman.
